Australia and England will play each other in the 73rd Ashes series from 16 June to 31 July 2023. Australia and England’s 2023 Ashes series will play a significant role in the 2023–2025 World Test Championship. There will be 5 venues used for the Ashes series games: Edgbaston, Lord’s, Headingley, Old Trafford, and The Oval. For the upcoming Ashes series, which England will host for the 37th time, the Australian team will be warmly welcomed.
The most recent Ashes series took place in 2019, and both teams won two games while drawing the other. As a result of their victory in the 2017 Ashes, Australia is the current champion. The first game of the Ashes Series 2023 will take place at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham from June 16 through 20, 2023. After that, both teams will travel to Lord’s in London to play the second test. The third test will take place at Leeds’ Headingley Cricket Ground from July 6–10, 2023, pitting both teams against one another. The fourth test will take place at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester from July 19–23, 2023, and the final Ashes game will be played at The Oval, London from 27–31 July 2023.

In the Ashes 2023, Pat Cummins will serve as the Australian team’s captain; in contrast, England has not yet revealed its final lineup for the tournament. However, it is most likely that Ben Stokes will assume the role of captain for the English team, who will be led by Brendon McCullum. Australia currently holds the top spot in the ICC Test team rankings, with England coming in at number three. Ashes has always been a good source of entertainment for cricket fans because the rivalry between the two teams is the oldest in test cricket.
Australia and England have faced off against one another in 72 Ashes series since 1882, with Australia winning 34 and England winning 32. Six of the series ended in draws.
England and Australia played each other in 356 test matches, with Australia winning 150 of them while England triumphed in 110 of them. The remaining 96 tests were abandoned without a conclusion. England has participated in 1060 tests in total, winning 388, losing 318, and having 354 matches end without a decision. Australia, on the other hand, has played in 853 tests, winning 405, losing 229 games, and drawing 217 more.
Therefore, it will be intriguing to see how Australia performs in defending the Ashes trophy in the upcoming Ashes series in June and July 2023.
