On the other hand, Bangladesh’s World Cup campaign began with a six-wicket win against Afghanistan. Chasing 157 runs, Bangladesh reached 158/4 in 34.4 overs, with Najmul Hossain Shanto (59*) and Mehidy Hasan (57) scoring crucial half-centuries. Mehidy Hasan took three wickets as Afghanistan was bowled out for 156. Shakib Al Hasan and Shoriful Islam also took wickets for Bangladesh.
However, Bangladesh suffered a heavy 137-run defeat in their recent match against England. Chasing 365, they were bowled out for 227, despite half-centuries from Liton Das (76) and Mushfiqur Rahim (51). Reece Topley took four wickets for England, while Dawid Malan scored 140 runs. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow contributed key half-centuries.
