Josh Inglis, a star Australian wicketkeeper, recorded the second T20I century of his career and accomplished a remarkable achievement never done by an Australian cricketer prior. Australia scored a great total of 196 on the board to placed themselves in pole position to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Inglis smashed 103 runs in just 49 balls.

As he took the stage by storm on Friday, September 6, at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburg during the second T20I between Australia and Scotland, star Australian wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis kept justifying his assurance as first-choice glovesman in white-ball cricket.

Australia made a dreadful start when Travis Head was removed for a golden duck less than 48 hours after his record-breaking knock of 80 in 25 balls in the series opener after Scotland won the toss and decided to bowl first following a delayed start due to rain. Jack Fraser Mcgurk, playing his second T20I, too failed with a 16-ball 16.

Walking out to bat at number three instead of skipper Mitchell Marsh, Inglis maximised the opportunity. With an extravagant knock of 103 in just 49 balls at a strike rate of 210.20, the 29-year-old recorded the second T20I century of his career.

Josh Inglis created history

By being the first-ever Australian wicketkeeper batter to score a T20I century, Inglis entered his name in the annals. Inglis's first T20I against India in November last year at Visakhapatnam came when he was a specialist batter with Matthew Wade as the chosen wicketkeeper and side captain. Wade's bat produced each of the best three scores by an Australian gloveman in T20Is prior to Inglis' century.

Inglis also made the fastest T20I century by an Australian batsman in history, therefore setting a record. Inglis himself, Glenn Maxwell, and Aaron Finch used to share the record initially.

After two months, the series marks Australia's comeback to international cricket and has seen them go on a run of record breaking exploits. Making 113 runs in six overs, the 2021 global Champions set the global record for most runs in a powerplay in the first T20I. Head also reached the mark in just 17 balls, therefore breaking Australia's equal fastest fifty in T20Is.
