Announcement of a new head coach for England men's white-ball squad for the ICC Champions Trophy and beyond.

Ahead to the India visit and ICC Champions Trophy, England has declared Brendon McCullum will replace the white-ball head coach of the men's squad beginning January 2025.

McCullum has extended his contract till the end of 2027. He has been the head coach of the men's Test squad since 2022 and invented their aggressive strategy in the longest form.

With the forthcoming series against Australia his first assignment ahead of the Caribbean, Marcus Trescothick will assume Head Coach duties of the men's limited-overs team in an interim capacity till McCullum takes over in January.

"For the last two years, constant clashes between formats have made it difficult for the white-ball environment; fortunately, these are easing starting from January," England Men's Cricket Managing Director Rob Key stated.

"The timing of the calendar (from January) will allow him to commit the required emphasis to both positions; we are sure this reorganization will highlight the best in our players and coaching team.

"It makes me happy that Brendon has decided to do both duties with England right now. We are rather lucky, in my opinion, that a coach of his calibre is ready to dedicate totally to English cricket.

McCullum said he was eager to meet the new challenge and that a single coach across the several disciplines made sense.

"I'm excited to extend my role to include the white-ball sides; I've really enjoyed my time with the Test team," McCullum said in the ECB release.

"This new task excites me and I am delighted to work closely with Jos (Buttler) and the team to strengthen the already solid foundations that are in place.

"The idea of a consolidated coaching structure, especially with the schedule easing next year, made perfect sense."
