Pak vs Ban 2nd Test Summary
Reacting to Pakistan’s first innings score of 274, Bangladesh was reduced to 26-6 and in danger of following on amid furious fast bowling in the morning but Das and Miraz combined a 165-run stand for the seventh wicket to steady the ship.
With his 228-ball effort, Das smashed 13 fours and four sixes; Miraz, who grabbed five wickets to skittle out Pakistan, proved his bat skills with a 12 fours and a six.
Having lost the first test by 10 wickets, Pakistan was 9-2 in their second innings at the stumps for a slim lead of 21 after a demanding day of work trying to even the two-match series.
Hasan Mahmud bowled night-watchman Shahzad on the last delivery of the day after discounting Abdullah Shafique.
Bangladesh was under great pressure immediately, earlier on 10 for no loss having held Pakistan silent on Saturday after the opening day was rained out.
Early on, with lots of pace and swing, Shahzad (6–90) eliminated Zakir Hasan and castled Shadman Islam in his following over. Mir Hamza also chipped in with two rapid blows.
Still needing 98 runs to avoid the follow-on, Shahzad caught the seasoned Shakib Al Hasan LBW to leave the shell-shocked tourists in terrible conditions.
But Miraz and Das drove Bangladesh to 75-6 before lunch and milked the Pakistan bowlers to raise their half-centuries, so staging a stunning comeback from there.
Miraz gave the fast bowler an easy catch shortly after hooking Shahzad for a massive six to pass their partnership past 150 runs, but Das persisted and brought up his fourth test century to annoy Pakistan.
