In Lahore, Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has expressed his desire for a revitalized and reinforced cricketing connection between Pakistan and India.

During an interaction with the media, Zaka conveyed his optimism for cooperation between the PCB and India's cricketing authority, with the aim of strengthening the cricketing ties shared by the neighboring countries.

Zaka introduced an innovative idea of a "Jinnah-Gandhi" series, drawing parallels to the renowned Ashes series, as a way to commemorate the rich cricketing history between the two nations. He stated that such a series would not only honor their cricketing heritage but also indicate the potential of sports diplomacy in nurturing positive relations.

Affirming Pakistan's dedication to international cricket, Zaka confirmed that the national team, led by Captain Babar Azam, will participate in the 2023 World Cup.

Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of maintaining consistency in leadership and coaching, expressing that the current coaching staff would remain unchanged at least until the conclusion of the World Cup.

Mickey Arthur will continue his role as the Director of Cricket for Pakistan, providing strategic guidance to the team. Joining him will be Grant Bradburn and Morne Morkel, who will take on the roles of head coach and bowling coach, respectively.

"I am of the opinion that this team is performing well, and we should avoid disrupting their progress," Zaka remarked. With crucial tournaments approaching, including the Asia Cup and the World Cup, Zaka underscored the importance of upholding a stable coaching setup. "Considering the imminent Asia Cup and World Cup, we will provide them with the necessary time," he stated. He further added, "Our objective is to build a strong squad capable of competing effectively in the Asia Cup and World Cup."
