Fawad Alam, the Pakistani cricketer, has affirmed that he currently has no intentions of retiring. Speaking to Geo News on Wednesday, the left-handed batsman dismissed speculations regarding his retirement.

The 37-year-old has clarified that he hasn't made any definite decisions regarding retirement and regards the circulating rumors as unfounded.

"I have not arrived at any conclusive determination up to this point. I have neither parted ways with Pakistan cricket nor opted for retirement. I remain committed to participating in domestic cricket, aiming to extend my involvement for the coming one to two years, or however long my professional journey continues," Fawad clarified.

Earlier, reports from Indian media had suggested that Alam had left Pakistan's cricket scene to explore opportunities in the United States of America (USA). According to the reports, he had joined the Chicago Kingsmen in the Minor League Cricket T20 as a local player. The Minor League operates under the Major League Cricket (MLC), which recently concluded in late July as America's inaugural cricket league.

Fawad Alam, known for his unorthodox left-handed batting style, made his Test debut in 2009 after initially starting with white-ball cricket in 2007. His Test debut included a century, sparking what could have been a promising career. However, he faced a quick exclusion from the team after just his third Test in the same year.

After more than a decade-long wait, he made a triumphant return to the Test side, reaching the milestone of 10,000 runs in domestic cricket. In 2020, he seized the opportunity to make a comeback against England. While that series wasn't particularly successful for him, he showcased his true prowess in the subsequent series in New Zealand by scoring a match-saving century.

The year 2021 saw Fawad Alam scoring three centuries against South Africa, Zimbabwe, and West Indies. However, he faced setbacks the following year, getting dropped from the playing XI due to poor performances in a three-match Test series against Australia at home and in a Test against Sri Lanka in July.

In these circumstances, Agha Salman took his place in the second Test against Sri Lanka, leading to Fawad Alam being sidelined once again.
