Afghanistan vs Pakistan ODI Series 2023 Squads and Schedule
The ICC’s Future Tour Program includes an upcoming ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan, scheduled to coincide with both teams’ visits to Sri Lanka in August 2023. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has officially confirmed that they will host the upcoming PAK vs AFG ODI series in August. This series will consist of 3 One Day Internationals and will be held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium. The ODI series is set to begin with the first match on August 22, 2023, followed by the second ODI on August 24. The series will conclude with the third ODI on August 26, which could potentially be a deciding match.
During this series, Afghanistan, led by Hashmatullah Shahidi, will visit Sri Lanka, while Babar Azam will captain the Pakistan team.
In the ICC ODI team rankings, Pakistan holds the second position, whereas Afghanistan is positioned at the 8th spot.
In terms of their previous ODI encounters, Pakistan and Afghanistan have faced each other in 4 matches, with Pakistan emerging victorious in all of them, while Afghanistan has faced defeat in all instances.
These matches are strategically planned to serve as preparations for both the upcoming Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
Training for Pakistan’s team is scheduled to commence in Sri Lanka on August 17, with the ODI series kicking off on August 22. The subsequent match is set for August 24, and the final match of the series will take place on August 26. The initial two matches of the series will occur in Hambantota, while the third ODI is slated to be held in Colombo.
Subsequently, Pakistan will initiate their journey in the Asia Cup, where they will face Nepal on August 30 in Multan. These engagements form a crucial part of their preparation for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, where their first match against Netherlands is scheduled for October 6.
