| South Africa vs West Indies ODI Series 2023 |
The South African Cricket Association has decided to host the West Indies in March 2023 to play three one-day international matches. The first game in the South Africa vs. West Indies ODI series 2023 will take place at Buffalo Park in East London on March 16, and the second game will follow on March 18 at the same location. On Tuesday, March 21, the final game of the SA vs. WI ODI series 2023 will take place at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.
West Indies won the ODI World Cup back-to-back in 1975 and 1979, but they haven’t been able to repeat that feat since. South Africa, on the other hand, has consistently been the predetermined winner of the World Championships in cricket, but they were unsuccessful in doing so.
Temba Bavuma will serve as the captain for the South African team while Nicholas Pooran will lead the West Indies team to South Africa. South Africa currently holds the fifth spot in the ODI rankings for the ICC, while West Indies is in ninth place. West Indies and South Africa faced off against each other in 62 ODI cricket matches throughout history, with South Africa dominating the Windies by winning 44 and dropping just 15.
South Africa has participated in 647 One Day Internationals overall, winning 394 of those games, losing 226 of them, drawing six ties, and having 21 games end in a draw. Out of their 852 ODIs, West Indies, on the other hand, were able to win 410 games and lose 402 games.
South Africa also played a ODI series against England in January 2023.
The last time West Indies visited South Africa was in 2014 for the 5 ODI series where South Africa defeated the Windies by 4-1.
