| New Zealand vs Sri Lanka Test Series 2023 |
The schedule and locations for the March 2023 New Zealand vs. Sri Lanka test series have been decided by the New Zealand Cricket Board. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has already announced a tour to New Zealand in March 2023 to play two test matches against New Zealand. The first test match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka will begin on March 9, 2023, at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The teams will then travel to Basin Reserve in Wellington to play the series’ final test match.
Most likely, Kane Williamson will lead New Zealand in welcoming Sri Lanka, while Dimuth Karunaratne will captain the Lankan team travelling to Sri Lanka. Dimuth is a Sri Lankan batsman who loves to open and has already contributed more than 6000 runs in the test for his team from 82 test matches. On the other hand, Kane Williamson is regarded as one of the best captains in all of cricket and has a tonne of experience playing test cricket.
New Zealand is currently ranked fifth in the ICC Test team rankings, while Sri Lanka is ranked seventh. In the history of test cricket, it is interesting to note that Sri Lanka has never been able to top the ICC test team rankings table, despite giving it their all in 2002, when they came in second.
Playing test cricket in New Zealand is unique because the pitch there differs greatly from those in other parts of the world. The team loses wickets very quickly in the first innings, and after the first innings is over, the pitch behaves differently for the players. The pitch, which was previously difficult to bat on, began acting in a way that made it appear easy to bat, making things unpredictable for both teams.
